Saskatchewan Wound Care Coverage

There are several programs available in Saskatchewan that can help cover the cost of wound care products.

1. ParaProgram

The ParaProgram covers the cost of medical supplies in Saskatchewan including the costs of wound care. The ParaProgram is offered by the Saskatchewan Health Authority and is specifically designed for people in Saskatchewan with certain spinal cord injuries including Spina Bifida, and in some cases Multiple Sclerosis. For individuals that have the ParaProgram coverage, NorDon Medical direct bills SaskHealth.

2. Saskatchewan Plan Coverage

Saskatchewan plan coverage may be available to certain low income individuals. Plan coverage helps cover the costs of wound care and medical supplies.

3. SGI / WSIB

Medical supply coverage including wound care supplies may be covered by SGI or WSIB if the injury was a result of an accident. In these cases, NorDon Medical works directly with SGI or WSIB and will bill them directly.

4. Private/Employment Insurance:

Some private/employment extended health insurance plans may cover the cost medical supplies including wound care prodcuts with a valid prescription from a doctor. The amount covered varies depending on the plan but is typically between 80% to 100%. NorDon Medical can provide guidance and can assist in providing forms that have been successful in the past in getting wound care supplies covered.
